Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae
Oreixenica orichora
I remember many years ago sitting in the local milk bar. My mate Rodney sitting on a bench on the other side of the formica table facing me. Rodney, with his wild red hair and plastic-framed sunnies, trying to look cool, his noisy slurping of a banana milk-shake through an oversize straw competing with a scratchy rendition of "Build Me Up Buttercup" playing on the jukebox.
Funny what we remember. Anyway, I digress. Don't know what made me think of Rodney.
Here we have a photograph of a Spotted Alpine Xenica feeding at a Billy Button flower (Craspedia sp.).
